ONGOING Red Cross' Relief Efforts Disaster-trained workers with the American Red Cross of Mississippi and Alabama are collaborating with officials after strong storms, tornadoes, and heavy rain swept through the state on March 15.
Red Cross caseworkers will assist affected families in meeting their immediate disaster-related needs.
If you need help due to the tornadoes or storms, please call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
If power lines are down outside your home, do not step in puddles or standing water. Report them immediately to the power company.
If the power is out, use a flashlight. Do not use candles or open flames for lighting.
If you smell gas or hear a hissing noise, leave the property immediately and move to a safe distance. Call the fire department once you are in a safe location.
People can download the Red Cross Emergency App for instant access to weather alerts in their area and where loved ones live. The app is available for free in app stores or at redcross.org/apps.
Help people affected by disasters and other crises by making a donation to American Red Cross Disaster Relief. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to, and help people recover from disasters both large and small.

Will be serving catfish and boiled shrimp plates at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Hattiesburg.
Plates are $12 and proceeds go to the various Knights of Columbus charities.
The church is located next to Pete Taylor Park on 4th Street in Hattiesburg.
If Southern Miss has a home baseball game, the Knights of Columbus will start serving at 5 p.m.; regular fish fries run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Mar. 22nd Pearl River County SPCA Will host a free drive-thru wellness shot clinic for dogs from 9 a.m. until noon at the Pearl River County Fairgrounds (124 Rodeo St., Poplarville).
Pet owners can drive up to the designated area near the corner of Highway 11 and Highway 26, where trained staff will administer free essential wellness shots for dogs in a safe and efficient manner. Additionally, microchipping services will be available for just $15.
No appointments are necessary, and services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
