  • May 9th 2024 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is teaming up with Ellisville State School for this year's torch run. 

    The event will be held this Thursday with line-up starting at 1 p.m. and the Torch Run through the Ellisville State School campus, located at 1101 Highway 11 South, beginning at 1:30. 

    Residents are invited to attend the event and run, jog, or walk the course. Residents may also stand along the race course and cheer on the law enforcement officers, Special Olympics athletes, and others who are participating in the Torch Run. 

    This event helps bring awareness and raise funds for Special Olympics Mississippi athletes who participate in sporting events throughout the year.


  • May 10th  YWCO Bingo Night Takes place at the YWCO in downtown Laurel (428 West Oak Street). Doors open at 6 p.m.; the first bingo game starts at 6:30.

    Proceeds benefit the United Way of the Pine Belt Region.

    Bingo cards are $10 each. Bring a $5 donation or an item from this list for the United Way's Dignity Closet for an extra bingo card.

  • May 11th Midtown Sounds Takes place at The District at Midtown in Hattiesburg. Headlining this year’s free concert is cover band Chee Wheez from New Orleans.


  • May 18th Hattiesburg DAV Chapter #62: VetFest 2024 Takes place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Town Square Park in Hattiesburg. The event will feature live music, food vendors, giveaways, and more. For more details, call 601-596-5620.

  • May 18th Live in Laurel Starts at 1 p.m. at Trustmark Art Park (corner of West Oak Street and North Magnolia Street in downtown Laurel). This free concert will feature the music of Latisha & Friends, Alvin Youngblood Hart's Muscle Theory, Red and the Revelers, and T-Bone Pruitt. Food trucks will be available.

  • May 28th-June 22nd FestivalSouth Organizers are unveiling plans for the 2024 season. More than 50 live art, theatre, music, and dance events are scheduled in and near Hattiesburg.

    It all starts May 28th with "Jersey Boys" at the Mannoni Performing Arts Center on the main Hattiesburg campus of Southern Miss. The final event on the FestivalSouth calendar is a tribute to the rock band Journey on June 22nd at the Saenger Theater.
