USPS Operation Santa
Now until December 5
The U.S. Postal Service has launched the 113th year of USPS Operation Santa, inviting children and families nationwide to write letters to Santa that may be “adopted” by generous individuals or organizations to help fulfill holiday wishes.
Letters must follow program guidelines at USPSOperationSanta.com and be postmarked by December 6 to qualify, with a new option allowing adopters to fulfill requests from entire households through family letters.
Participants can adopt letters and use the expanded USPS Operation Santa online gift catalog, which offers thousands of items and streamlined shipping, making it easier than ever to spread holiday cheer.
Domestic Abuse Family Shelter (DAFS): "Be Their Miracle"
Now until December 12
In this traditional holiday giving campaign, DAFS is urging the Pine Belt community to donate new, unwrapped toys, gifts, and comfort items for survivors of domestic abuse, family violence, and human trafficking, including women, men, and children.
Gifts, can include the following...
\ Toys and gifts for children of all ages, including teens.
\ Games, puzzles, journals, and art kits.
\ Gift cards in small denominations for older youth or adults.
\ Pajamas, slippers, sweats, and cozy clothing to help families relax together.
\ Holiday snacks or family activity items such as hot cocoa kits, popcorn, or cookie-decorating sets to create new traditions in safety and love.
\ Towels and blankets to use in their new homes.
\ Lamps, art, and home decorations.
United Way of the Pine Belt Region: Prancer Path Fundraiser
Now until January 2, 2026
This holiday tradition in Laurel unites the community while supporting vital local programs.
The event will showcase decorated trees competing in categories such as Best Non-Profit, Most School Spirit, People’s Choice, and Best Overall Tree, with new categories added each year.
Organizers encourage businesses, organizations, and individuals to order a tree, combining festive advertising with meaningful support for education, health, and financial stability initiatives across the Pine Belt.
Mason Park Christmas Lights
December 1 through January 4
Visitors can enjoy the tradition by walking or driving through the park. The event is supported by a nonprofit that welcomes volunteers and financial donations.
Merry on the Midway
December 4-7, 11-14, 18-21; 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. each night
The Laurel Fairgrounds will feature dazzling light displays and festive activities.
Guests can enjoy live seasonal performances and nightly Christmas movies at the Holly Music Hall & Theater.
The event also includes Santa’s Village and a Storybook Stroll showcasing “A Charlie Brown Christmas”.

Tree Lighting at Camp Shelby
Thursday, December 4, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Takes place at the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum Building. There will be food, music, hot cocoa and more.
Rotary Club of Hattiesburg: Gingerbread House Competition
Thursday, December 4, 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Takes place at the King Center at the main Hattiesburg campus of William Carey University.
Entry fee is $125 for a team of up to four people. Proceeds benefit Pine Belt area charities including Edwards Street Fellowship, The Hope Clinic, and local Boy Scout troops.
Christmas with the Arts
Thursday, December 4, 7 p.m.
Jones College’s School of Art, Music and Performance and the Salvation Army invite the everyone to this concert at the M.P. Bush Fine Arts Auditorium on the Ellisville concert.
